Gérard BRU Exhibition - July 2 to September 15, 2025
Originally from Hérault, self-taught painter Gérard Bru has worked with color since his adolescence, which he spent in the South of France. A loss of roots in the 1970s brought him to the Paris region, where he lived until 2004. During this period, his initially figurative style shifted toward a more stripped-down style, a simplification of imagery and color, which brings a luminous and powerful atmosphere to his works, as well as a sense of calm and serenity.
Now back in the South of France, he rediscovers with infinite pleasure the light and colors of the South, which, despite the distance, have always guided his path.
Gérard Bru has found his own path in the diversity of his representations of the contemporary world. He situates himself between the figurative and abstract poles. His elements include elements whose shapes suggest landscapes. The composition, with its pure forms, gives his paintings an incomparable radiance.
